    Put bfg ko2 265 75r16 ...

Quieter than stock 265 70r16, but heavier. Will need to remove mud flaps. Any mechanical issues I should worry about with 265 75r16 on '15 taco TRD OFF-ROAD?

Thats great news. I plan to keep it for decades.

Did you have to do any calibration...

After 3 yrs/miles..how much tread do you have left? Would you buy ko2 again.

I got around 70k miles out of my KOs.

I just installed five new KO2s (265/75r16). They're balanced solely with Dynabeads (8oz off road beads). No complaints so far. I've hit a few trails and put maybe 60 miles on them via dirt roads. They're stout tires. The sidewalls are much more durable than that found on the KO.

I just drove in wet, icy road tonight. Felt more secure than stock tires. Need to remove flaps for sure. Seems taxing on highway...will see how much my mpg will decrease by. Good and bad. This summer when I go offroad...will be true test. Anyone has bad
    Experience with ko2...

I have no complaints with them off road. I've done Schnebley Hill Rd, several rocky FS routes within the Secret Mountain Wilderness (i.e. Sedona), and a few day trips in the Otero Mesa, NM within the first 1k miles with this set. They're a solid tire. I'll mention again that the sidewall is a vast improvement over the KO. After I left Sedona, while airing up I noticed the evidence of several rock encounters on the side walls. Scuffs and scrapes - normal stuff. The KO2s held up fine. I ran them at 20 psi will off highway (my Tacoma is a heavy girl though).

I run them at 41 psi on the highway. Anything under 40 psi and my mileage suffers greatly. I have noticed about a 1 mpg drop from my previous set of 4-year-old KOs. I think the drop in fuel economy is mainly due to the fact that my last set of KOs were a lot more worn and therefore lighter - less rubber.

I've ran 265/75s since new (with lift), interestingly this size is actually dead-on for speedometer vs. actual speed. With 265/70s, you was 1.5-2% under the actual speed, meaning that your speedo says 60MPH but you're actually going approximately 58MPH. With the '75' ratio GPS and speedo are less than one percent apart. I mentioned this to the dealer back then because at 50k miles the warranty runs out slightly quicker than what actually traveled by about 2%, they didn't give a shit.. good luck and enjoy, the KO2 are great tires vs. the KO1 ..

But, the warranty is still good to 60k...doesn't void it at all? My Taco has 32k on it.

Agreed. My speedometer is dead on accurate. Matches my GPS exactly.

You can only hear them when coming to a stop if your windows are down and if it's relatively quiet outside (no traffic etc.) - even then, you have to listen for the beads. It sounds like a maraca being dropped or maybe a large jar full of beads being shaken one time (up then down). Not at all noticeable. The Dynabeads are well worth it IMO. No vibes at all.

I used five of the DBS-OR8 (full size spare) located here:

I'm going to start a long-term review thread this week.

I ordered them direct from Innovative Balancing - this link:

    http://innovativebalancing.com/mobile/product_grp.php?grp=5

I ordered my tires from Discount Tire. I called and made an appointment for the install. The most senior tech there was familiar with balancing beads and he did the install. Not much to it, but it's important to not spill any of the beads during the process. All 8 oz. must go in. The instructions from IB are very thorough.

Yes, the were $100 for five packs. But I believe Discount was going to charge me $15 per tire to balance them - which I did not need. To me, the additional $25 for the beads (over lifetime balancing from Discount) was/is worth it in the long run. I air down and up so much (generally every weekend) that I had a hell of a time keeping my previous set of KOs balanced. The sticky weights detach occasionally and I'm not a fan of the clip on weights for obvious reasons. The extra $25 was worth my time in not having to deal with the hassle of returning to the shop several times over the life of these tires.

yes 60K, and no it doesn't, as long as it's a 265mm tire they usually don't care
... interesting about the beads, did that on 295/75R24.5" tractor tires but never on light truck tires.. So rolling from a light does it need a "moment" to balance it self or all smooth all the time?

Per what I've read online - and I can't remember if this was on Innovative Balancing's FAQ page (which is quite extensive) - the beads begin balancing the tire at around 30 mph. Personally, I cannot tell any difference when driving at <30mph. I have no shimmy or vibes at all.

I will cavaet that with this. I had the tires installed and a week later drove to Sedona for Easter weekend. I hit some traffic before I turned onto 17 just south of the Schnebly Hill Road exit. When I sped up to 65mph, one of my rear tires was really out of balance. It was very noticeable. I pulled off the highway, checked everything out (lugs and tire PSI) and all looked good.

I got back on the highway and no vibes, the issue was gone. The only thing I can postulate is maybe the beads somehow clumped or something. They must not have flattened out and settled in the "lighter" side of the tire for whatever reason. Again, this was a fluke and I have not experienced this since; to include the 9 hour drive back home on the freeway. That was about 1k miles ago FWIW.

I never followed up with IB about it. Maybe Dynabeads have a break in period like a new tire. It's doubtful, but who knows.

Dynabeads are great. I use them in everything I have. Only issue is that they sometimes get stuck in valve but a quick blow of air clears them out.

    KO2s are great. Done.

Yeah, I know in the instructions from Innovative Balancing state to make sure the valve is at the 10 thru 2 o'clock position when airing down. However, I know the Offroad Beads are larger and will not pass thru the valve stem like their standard beads, so maybe that problem isn't a problem with the Offroad Beads. I do know that IB offers a special valve core that has a spring-loaded pin on the back portion to keep the beads from entering the valve, they're relatively cheap too, maybe a buck or two a pop. Something worth looking into if you're having an issue with them clogging your valve stems.

Again, I'll add that the KO2s are a kick ass tire. Definitely an improvement over the KO. I was torn between the KO2 and the S/T Maxx from Cooper, but went with the KO2 due to my previous stellar experience with KOs on the Tacoma, as well as my previous Jeeps. The deal maker for me:

    1) The KO2s were about $20-30 cheaper per tire and the S/T Maxx would take a week to be delivered (i.e. a special order).

    2) The KO2s were in stock at every Discount Tire I called in my area. The 265/75r16 is a popular size and the KO2 is a popular tire. If I needed one in a pinch, I'm sure a replacement could be sourced within a day and I would be on my way.

If you're the weekend warrior type, or someone who hits long tracks of pavement to and from an off-highway destination, I really don't think you can go wrong with this tire.
