Question on grounding my CB antenna with bed rail mount

    Do you think grounding to the body under the plastic real would be as effective as grounding the the frame?

    Upside of going to the body is it'll only be a few inches Vs Going to the frame at like 2 ft.

    I don't think going to the frame will matter much. Keep it short.

    What's funny is I had a guy show me his antenna hookup years ago. He just laid it in the bed of the truck. Said he didn't want any standing waves on the line. Honest.
    (SWR means standing wave ratio)

    Would be interesting to see what kind of radiation patter you got.
    Car is a lot easier to place antenna for radiation pattern in a certain direction. On a truck frame who knows.
    Did you ever measure the pattern ?

    Just grounding it doesn't do much.
