Odd sound front driver's side

Since I have heard other post like this with the door seals. I have been cleaning them with a wet rag and applying 303 protectant to them every time I wash the truck. So far I haven't heard anything like that.

 

Yeah, my dad works at the dealer and happened to be the tech who drove my truck, he couldn't repeat the sound (no strong wind). He said to get some silicone spray and start with that before cutting the seal and putting in vac line or putting something behind it to 'beef it'

 

there is no need to "cut" the weather strip. there are tiny holes every 4 or so inches that you can use. get the hard plastic tubing in very small diameter and fish it down through one of those holes. ive done a few of them and it fixed the issue every time. i may even try a clothes hanger next time...its nice and sturdy to push through the weatherstrip and still push it out enough to seal it.

 

Mine whistled from 40mph and up. It was the gasket between the hood and grill. The dealer took care of it for free. Before they fixed it for me, I took a piece of 1/4" pneumatic tubing and slid it through the hole in the gasket on the grill. Cut it to length, even with the edges. That fixed it by creating a tighter fit when the hood was shut. Cheap and easy to try. I can take pics for you, if you'd like.

 

It's not a whistle sound and definitely comes from the door/mirror/window.

Honestly, I thought that's where it was coming from, also. You could always just run a piece of painter's tape across all the gaps in the body panels that you could find. Do it one section at a time until it goes away. At least it'll narrow down your search. Good luck man!

 

FYI..there is a new TSB for this...they replace the front door weather strips with a new design.
tsb# 0170-16. just replaced them on my truck. parts were on back order though so it may be awile before your dealer
gets them.

double cab part#s 67861-04062 and 67862-04062
access cab are different part # but im sure if you ask your local dealership the original part# will jump to the new one.

 

You think it's legit though?
Last time I went in to the dealer about this, they thought I was crazy. And my own dad works there, probably one of the most educated true "service techs" in the area. Not bragging either, just truth, he's really a prick and I hate him lol.
Anyway, he drove the truck and couldn't get the sound to repeat. Even had video proof of it too. Dad agreed that it's there, the service manager needed slapped to agree. The old man also has an ext cab Ranger and says he sometimes has a similar sound in it with a cross wind.

 

i work for a Dealer as well and found the tsb back in feb. parts had to be ordered bc they were on back order..took allmost 2 months to get them. its legit.
if you complain about a buzzing wind noise and they look it up in the system, it'll refer to that TSB. but take the number down just in case and if they come back with nothing, ask them to look it up. ive been complaining to my field rep since i bought the truck in 2015...he knew about it but had no fix yet. took them 2 1/2 years to finally come out with it...lol.

ill report back if it doesnt fix it but i can allready tell its good...doors seal alot tighter which can be felt when im closing them.
