Lift suggestions

I am starting a build on an '09 reg cab, but know very little about what tires would be best for me and I know nothing at all about lifts. I know I've been looking at getting 33" tires, just not sure what kind. I will not be off road much, mostly just highway driving, no idea what type of tires are best. Also, I've seen a trend with 3' lifts eith 33's, but like I said, I know nothing about lifts. Could anyone explain ehat would be best for me in the long run regarding both of these?
