So I was wheeling today and smashed the hell out of my trailer light (7 pin connector)! It is in such a stupid place especially for a 4-wheel drive truck. Has any one relocated it? Pics are appreciated!

I've seen them relocated in the bumper next to the plate

you can do it for free (or like 50 cents for two bolts n nuts). Remove the driver side license plate light, unplug the 7 pin from the harness do a smidge of cutting on the plastic of the stock trailer plug so that it fits in the hole you created by removing the license plate light. Feed the pigtail through the hole and then secure with two bolts through the stock holes (you will have to drill two small holes in the bumper). It ends up looking factory and is in a MUCH better spot.

    I made my own

I just cut and bent a pc of diamond plate and drilled holes to match
Works well, I may get a high clearance bumper, but want sliders first so this works for now.

That's the way mine was done when I bought the truck. I'm going to remove the 7 way and replace it with one that has a 7way and a flat 5 below it. I've never seen a trailer with a flat 5, but that's the way the connector comes and it works with a flat 4.

my problem with the bought or made for ones that are setup like this is if you actually use the 7 pin its in a seriously horrible spot.... wiring hanging down low, and gravity constantly fighting you to keep the plug in (even though there is a hook)

    Yes I agree
It would be better up on the step of the bumper
It was a quick solution for the time being
I've towed about a dozen times with it this was without a problem, so time will tell.
It only took me a half hour to do and is easily changed.

Sorry to jump on late, but i bought the truck and noticed the 7 pin bracket was busted. Bought a new 7 pin at O'reillys, just looked at the old one to rewire the new one, and pulled off the driver side license plate light and placed the 7 pin in the hole already made in the bumper. Seems like a good spot. Maybe 6 bucks and some time out of my day.

The 5 pin connector is usually for a trailer with surge breaks. The extra wire is powered up when the truck is put in reverse, and energizes a solinoid that disables the surge brakes for backing up the trailer.
I am thinking about using this circuit to power up back- up lights mounted to 2 x2 tubing that slides into the hitch receiver, when not towing.
