stan23 your service center must be on top of things, which like I said in my post, the service advisor "said" he didn't know of the recall. But to me if I heard it on tv about the recall the service center here where I live should know about it. But I'm going to call them back today

They should know about it. Just have them scan your VIN and it will pop up.

https://www.toyota.com/owners/parts-service/toyota-care Toyota Care deals in towing and Oil changes ,they cannot hold your car against your will before any recall notice is received by you. Unless you willing agreed to take the loaner if you didn't want them to take your car then you should call Toyota Corp and tell them the situation. to hold a truck 1.5 months before receiving a recall notice is not what the PDF instructions say.

I did call Toyota Corp. Yes, they said my truck needs to be held at the dealer until fixed. I'm not sure why you're arguing what myself and many owners are going through other than you just like to troll.

Again, i'm sure legally, if I went in kicking and screaming, I can get my truck out. But I rather it be fixed so I can sell it.

I didn't go in demanding they do the recall because I read it online. I went in for an oil change, and the SA TOLD ME about the recall. At first they didn't know the procedure, but then in the evening, called me back and told me to take a loaner, as Toyota Corp told them to hold all leaking diff trucks until they have the fix procedure in place.

I think somehow you misunderstand what's going on. You use words like seizure, against your will, etc.... And none of that is happening. The outlined procedure of the recall is pretty simple. If your truck doesn't show any signs of leak, they tighten your diff bolts and you're on your way. If your truck shows any signs of weeping, or leaking they issue you a loaner, while they start the fix procedure. If your truck shows failure, they say leave it here til it's fixed.

You're trying to stir up drama, so on behalf of all of us, please stop. You're not being constructive.

I took my truck in today and they found signs of the leak. The service manager says they highly expect the parts to be in stock next week. Hope this to be true!

You forgot about the howl modulator. Thats what makes the 400hz howl frequency standard across Tacoma models--otherwise they would be howling at all sorts of frequencies and you can't have that!

If it was only that way.

The whole gearing setup is part of the center section, not the rear. So to pull the center section, you have to pull the drive shafts to remove it.

    Here is a video.

    Mods coming soon...
I called TMC & got a case number just cover myself. Mine is not listed under the recall but shows signs of seepage in multiple places around the diff. They said take it in.

leaks, seepage, weeping, discoloration, etc, etc, is absolutely NOT NORMAL! If your truck isn't on the recall list and you have any of the above issues you can have the condition corrected under your factory 6/60 power train warranty.

If the dealer claims its normal, open up a case & report the service department to Toyota.

So dumb question....if there is no official fix yet and they aren't sending recall letters out until June is it safe to drive the truck until then? I have an appointment scheduled for Monday but if I go in there just to find out they are going to confiscate my brand new truck until who knows when I'm gonna be pissed. Guess I should just cancel the appointment until I get my recall letter? Advice?
