Yikes...should have did a Ford Escape search on TW. The deal was irresistible at the pricepoint it was at.

I'll probably be learning a lesson here...if so I'll post it.

Late to the post but a co-worker just bought a 2010 Forester used. 150K. Transmission toasted the first week, dealer got his cash, don't care. Poor dude. He just got out of an older Nissan Xterra which was a money pit.

    back to bone stock.
    we have one.

not gonna lie..it's cost us a few times.

biggest hit..something happened to the valves and the motor needed to come out and the head reworked. i still cant talk about it.
the sun roof broke twice..not cheap at all
windnoise. our 2005 has no side window frames. it's noisy.
ours is turbocharged. super unleaded and it guzzles it..22mpg on a good day
radiator sprung a bad leak..easy to swap DIY.
the sparkplugs..oh lordie..it was a tough swap. the motor is tight in that space. toughest spark plug swap of my shadetree mechanic days.
the powersteering pump died on us a few months ago.

we spent some money on repairs, but my wife still loves the thing. it is peppie and fun. the repair money makes it hard to sell the car..we want our monies worth..i'm taking it backpacking tomorrow. the turbo is nice at high elevations.
