The oil mist sucked into the intake (and engine) through the PCV system provides lubrication to the upper cylinders. So your engine will seize if you install an oil catch can.

    Right?!?!?! :p

    And the muffler bearings.

But seriously, I have thought many times about installing a catch can but my engine is all stock (normal aspiration) and I just don't see a big need. Sure it will keep oil out of the intake but if this was a serious problem we would be hearing more about it. As I age, if I get any more OCD than I already am, this attitude will probably change.

All about keeping the engine as clean as possible as long as possible.

Byproduct is keeping the cats happier longer too. For those that are into that kind of thing.

Got the oil catch can install on passenger side, easy access and didn't have much space on the driver side, because of the S/C, so I went the easy way lol,now the only thing left is the plumbing !

Got mine yesterday an add w1 ordered from newegg.com for about 90$ I think.

I'll post up a walkthrough to help out anyone else doing this but I got a lot of the information from here

I'll start with the good stuff, this is after about 140 miles probably a teaspoon amount in there. All thick oil there was no water in it at all

These were the bolts I used, got them at lowes. They're M7-1.00 x 20 metric bolts. They fit into the two holes pre drilled in the truck in the engine bay there, not sure what they were for but they're being used now lol

I welded a piece of steel that I drilled holes in to the mounting point of the catch can and painted it to prevent that

Can't do a damn thing without bleeding

The finished product. I used 3/8 fuel hose and the stock clamps on the engine side and the clamps provided for the can side. I also got a small gasket for the dipstick from Lowe's, can't remember what size just took it in there and tried a bunch of them. I put some Teflon tape on the threads of the fittings going into the can also. There was a small relay box there so I made a makeshift cover out of some zip ties and some high quality military MRE bag plastic. Everything is solid and I'm happy

    IMG_5222.jpg Sweet!
I installed mine a month or so ago. Unhooked it for a bit because I got a p0101 code but that was due to a loose maf sensor.
I used a left over bracket from the sc install to mount the can.

I can't leave anything well enough alone

This looks crazy. I bought a knock off can, admittedly... but the bracket on the can is aluminum (or painted stainless?? can't tell didn't want to file it), not magnetic, and no way to bond the two other than glue/epoxy... Is it steel on the ADD-W1? Are you sure you welded on a piece of steel? If so you are lucky it somehow stuck with some bits of dissimilar metal munged together.. The weld looks like it was fighting you though...

Very Nice, I got a Volant CAI too, looks like the catch can fits well on the Passenger side. What did you do to secure it/mount it to on that side? I got the same CAI too, and would prefer to mount it on the Passenger side as well.
    Thx

I had that same thought when I saw that pic yesterday. Then I looked at the date. I just replaced my SC reservoir because it did leak and made a mess.

Yeah I've been doing a lot of short trips in cold weather lately, truck barely gets to warm all the way up. Thinking I may need to pull the valve covers soon and see what it looks like under there
