So I pinged some of my car maker friends in the US and ask them as one works at Ford and the other Toyota. Their feedback was this, Basically different countries have different transportation laws and requirements. Most, if not all makers, will use whats available in their region. My Ford friend who is a Global acct guy said that different countries also have various environmental concerns that were taken into acct when designing and building the vehicles for other countries. He said because Thailand is a very harsh environment with heat and moisture having a different CV boot compound is quite possible and it may not hold up as well with a lift kit because the rubber is thicker and harder. So it may not be that it can't handle heavier service per-say as I have seen guys with Hilux's do way more then a Tacoma in the US but certain materials (Rubber, plastic, glass, paint etc) might be different but things we do to modify our trucks might have other side effects that we did not consider.

I wont dig too much deeper, I will look at alternative solutions. For now I check on the boots from time to time. The rest of the truck has been flawless.

Adding more lights to my truck. Got a set of hood ditch light brackets from Australia. Now, what should I get flood or spot pattern rigid industries d-ss? It'll be mostly used on highway (when no on coming traffic or that asshole whose high beams are on)? Bare in mind i already have HID's installed. The moutainous terrain of the Philippines is so darn dark and some spots are still dense with trees...

He did not have to cut anywhere. It came in like a glove. But he will only come in if he changes his upper arms.
The original arms do not support these tires. You will need a wheel spacer and lift at least 60mm. The joke is too dangerous.

    Your Hilux is looking good...

I experience the same thing out here in Rural Thailand. It is very dark. I love my PIAA HID lights on the front. When I run these with my factory HID lights it is very bright.

You didn't have to trim at all?

Even with my 4" lift and 265/70 tires I had to roll in the lip a bit because when turning hard when off road it clipped the inner fenderwell. The pic looks very very tight.

Incredible as it may seem, I did not have to cut anything. Jafo 4" you mean 40mm? Because 4" is too much for our hilux would give 10mm of lift. Your tires can scrape because of the width and offset of the wheel because here we use 265/70/17 with the original pickup, without mods.

    Interesting.

Yes 4" lift (101mm). The Hilux delivered here in Thailand comes with 265/65/17. I brought over the 265/70/17 KM2 BFG tires from the US. The difference between the 65 and 70 series is the 70 series is 1" taller (25.4mm) and .625 (18.2mm) wider. The 285/70 tire you added are 1" (25.4mm) taller and .5" (12.5mm) wider.then the tires I have which is 2" (50.8mm) taller over stock. Its why I asked if they hit. Because I saw you have front mudflaps. I had to take mine off as a hard turn in with a bit of travel suspension and it would hit them.

Wow! So this explained the problem in your cv boots. Here we do not raise more than 50mm in the suspension without changing the homocinetic or lowering the lower arm. Did you make any of these changes? Send me a photo of your lower arm and the homocinetic so I can see how it is. Very interesting too.

The body clearance of mine is significantly larger than yours and you are now riding on a much larger tire. I have plenty of room now to house a 285/70 tire.

To ride those bigger tires I needed to get my mudflaps. They are 275/70/18, in conversion to inches it from 33.15 ". A little higher than the 285/70/17.

Yes I even think can put a bigger tire on you. 4" I believe it fits a 305/70. Here in Brazil with 6" we put 315/70, but 50mm of lift lift and 100mm of body lift.

I knew anything over 3" lift on the Hilux was marginal on the CV boot. but you know...whats life without pushing the limits LOLOLOL. The overall CV angle is acceptable but the boot material is too ridged here. I have some 2016 Tacoma CV boots coming with a friend from the US to check as I believe the boot material is far more flexible. we will see.

I can say that there would be no way I could run 265/70/17 tires on my truck with just a 50mm lift. They would rub virtually everywhere. Front and rear of fender area and when making a U turn the would rub hard on the inner fenderwell.

I can put nearly 4 fingers in between the gap as you posted. What is the ground to middle of wheel well opening on the front?

btw this is great information being shared.

I just went out and measured some points

Ground to bottom center of fender at center is 39" (990 mm)
Top of tire to center of fender at center 9" (228mm)
Gap front and rear tire to closest point on fender is 3.5" (88.9mm)
