Has anyone put any type of sub-woofer in their double cab Tacoma. i have a 2012 and i've seen the shallow mounts behind the back seat. but how do they sound and how hard do they hit compared to a full size sub-woofer. and has anyone been able to install a normal size sub-woofer behind their seat before? input would be great from anyone who has done this to their truck.

There isn't enough depth back there for a quality full size sub. I used to have a single 12" Type R alpine that sat on the rear seat behind me and now I have two kicker comp cvr 10" subs behind the rear seats.
The single 12" was louder (partly due to being a ported box) but I prefer the sound of the two 10"s behind the seat. Sounds a bit cleaner IMO. Very happy with the sound and having my rear seats back.
If you want the best check out the 13" JL TW5, put a full length box behind the seats, and you'll be dialed
