I was a little bored today, and I was looking for something to do and now I'll share with anyone that might be looking to do something similar.

But first just let me say the following:
This is not to keep someone from stealing your gas, but rather to deter or delay some jealous low life in the shopping mall from quickly dumping something in your tank.

Tether from pluming department at homecheapo, under $3 bucks. Tether.jpg

drill 1/8” hole on corner of gas cap for this size tether bead.

Push tether bead(s) thru with flat head screw driver or squeeze with pliers and pull it out again
    Tether in cap.jpg

Fish bead end of tether thru gas door oem tether slot all the way thru other end to rubber stop.

    New tether thru.jpg

Stant 10504 locking gas cap installed.
You can push more beads down the hole, or install thru upper door slot (on left) to shorten length. Alternatively, you should be able to just cut to length, just to give other ideas.

    New tether thru.jpg

    Cheers!

Who do you hang out with in a toilet? Guess you run around in the gutter all the time, geesh. I'm tempted to call the CDC on ya, and get your a$$ dragged into quarantine. Don't worry, while your in there, your tacoma will be boarded with me and I'll treat her with the respect she deserves like rolling around in the mud, baths, cuddling sessions in the mountains. You know you gotta treat her right, or she just won't perform when you need her to.

    Some people these days. ;)

It looks like the OEM tether can be pried off the gas cap and possibly reused on the locking gas cap. Did you try that or see any problems doing it that way?

Got the Stant locking cap and made a tether using a piece of weed eater plastic line. Drilled a hole in the handle of the cap, fed the line thru it and tied a knot, then did the same with the hole used for the OEM tether.
