My cousin, who has a 2nd Gen Tacoma, drove my 2017 Tacoma and he said the clutch engagement is too high. Is that a difference with the generations that it engages higher on the 3rd gen or should I get it checked out?

Take it to a mechanic. Might be hard to find any definitive answer to your particular "engagement" question here on the forum. Good luck

My 08 was right in the middle, my 15 was all the way at the top of the pedal, and my 17 is about 3/4 way out which is much easier to drive than the 15.

was wondering the same. Im in one month ownership and about 1k miles on mine. i dont recall my test drive on the other manual tacoma was this high. I personally would like it to be lower.. around 5hte 55-75% range.. mine is almost at the top.

Wow, mine is really low. Starts maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the way up. Killed the engine several times trying to get used to it. On mechanical clutch linkage you should have at least 3/4 of an inch free play at the top to make sure the linkage isn't keeping the clutch from completely engaging. Hyd are self adjusting, just wish mine was a little higher.

    all tore up already
Mine engages pretty high, probably starts around 3/4. Had 2 dealers tell me its fine which doesnt make me feel warm n fuzzy as it should but coming from my last car no clutch will feel the similar.

It engages at a different point but its not too high. I prefer it over my 2nd gen clutch... that thing wasn't as much fun

Same here. Every other manual I've driven/owned since '71 has engagement points much lower.

Mine is high as well... About the 75-80% range when it starts to engage.

Have had many manual shift vehicles along the way, this one has the highest engagement point.

Drove four different manual transmission 3rd Gens when shopping around. They were all about the same. One of them had the notchy third gear engagement I've read about around here as well.

Anyone ever have a stutter in first when it is damp out or the clutch is still cold?
