I couldn't find anything in prior posts about this but I'm sure its been brought up before. I'm coming from the Mustang world. I traded in my 13 GT with about 450 HP for my 17 Taco Sport 4X4. I love it but would love more power. I don't see any Supercharger/Turbos kits out there. I know TRD stopped producing their prior gen kits. Has anyone out there done this or are there any companies developing something yet?

There's numerous threads out there already on this. The problem is Toyota quit making them and never made one for our current engine (2GR-FKS).

The other problem is that Toyota locks down the ECU and makes it much harder for third parties to design one. Plus I've heard the Atkinson cycle design can interfere with it though I've also heard it could just be disabled.

Supposedly there is a company working on one. I'll have to dig that thread up and see if there's any update on that. But I wouldn't hold your breath.

Best to just use ETC mode or press the gas harder. Alternately use a secondary vehicle to get the speed out of your system from time to time. This is a midsize truck after all. Though I'd love to see what Ford does with a new Ranger on the way, because they may go the turbo route like they have in most of their other vehicles. I'd expect an EcoBoost Ranger with either a turbo I4 or maybe small V6 like the F150's 2.7L. Hard to say.

I'd also love more power in my Tacoma. It's been described as "adequate but not abundant". I do merge onto the highway where people are going 75-80 MPH with no on-ramp for my work commute every day and I'd certainly appreciate it.

Sure it's no problem with my Camaro SS but the Tacoma requires extra planning.

I figured... I'm sure who ever does it will make some cash. The ETC is a much cheaper option I guess. LOL

Ah, these guys are working on an ECU/Trans tune at least.

I wish these had more power! Any options?
