I tow a 22' travel trailer.

 

It looks... really big. How does it tow with the Taco? Seems like the hitch has you nice and level.

 

This weekend

 

The picture makes it look bigger than it is. It is 22ft and when fully loaded with food and kids toys I am at 4800lbs. You can tell it is back there when towing but the taco has been towing it fine. I wouldn't want to tow it across the US but for the one day trips we take it does great.

 

Forget sag, that thing was ready for take-off.

 

Well, I pulled the trailer up to South Park and the Taco supprized the heck out of me. No problem at all doing the speed limit or more up the hills. I think the hills are 5-15% grade and I go down using the engine or manually down shift the auto. I do use the little Curt sway bar and a prodigy 2 break control. I have the" Jaco SLX175RD off road " and got of the paved roads and it did well.

 

How long is your trailer? I'm in the market for one... Seems like 4500 lb and 25' lg is pushing it.
Trying to find a bunkhouse and a layout to make the wife happy in those parameters is tough!

thats 4600 lbs DRY and EMPTY without any options....

That 245BHS is 6500 lbs GVWR. 600 lbs tongue weight sitting on your hitch. your Taco DC has ~ 1000 lbs payload, subtract that 600 hitch weight and you and your passengers and cargo better not weigh more than 400 lbs combined.

 

Well it'll never be loaded to more than 5200lbs and depending on where you camp you don't need to bring your own water. And there are no options it's fully loaded. Dry weight includes propane. And before I leave a site, I'll empty grey and black tanks.

 

its amazing how fast weight adds up. if you DO need to fill your water tanks, 30 gallons * 8 lbs/g == 240 lbs right there. my wife packs at least 70 lbs of clothes in her duffle for a couple-3 day trip :-/ blankets/sheets/pillows, pots/pans/dishes, food, towels, chairs, outside mat or carpet, it all adds up. my milk crate of mandatory trailer stuff probably weighs 50 lbs (scissors jack, channel locks, tire iron, lego blocks and stabilizer plates, leveling wedges, hoses, etc).

 

Moab this past week. 2 Polaris RZR's on car trailer b/w 4500-5K#. Pulled well with S/C

 

This is a 16' Bambi Airstream, 2,700 pounds dry, and up to 3,500 pounds GVR. With the manual (double overdrive) and the 4.30 final drive, I still rarely see fifth. Sixth is just too tall a gear when towing. Granted, I'm running BFG A/T's slightly oversize, LT275/75R16's, so this kind of negates the lower final drive. Up here around Seattle, running all over the Cascades and the Olympic Peninsula, you know you are towing, but are still passing the semi's going uphill, so I consider it a win. I still have a halfway decent truck for exploring the forest service roads, but can still tow a moderately sized trailer.

 

I love that you're pulling that through the high desert lol

 

I recently borrowed my son's Big Tex 18' 7k trailer to haul a bunch of pallet racks. I don't have a brake controller but my truck pulled this with ease. I have Firestone bags and had them inflated them to 40psi which leveled my rig out.

 

Had a busy work weekend. Towed the skid steer to level out my yard and then towed my Ranger Crew and Zero Turn Mower on my 16 ft trailer to the hunting camp. No problems.

 

Go to the Jaco owners forum. I think some of the cabinets are built a little cheap and I do see many staples showing in the floor through the linoleum. I will be strengthening a few week points that some people have had problems with. I never think one manufacturer is that much better then the other it is always about how much you want to spend. The other thing to keep in mind is that when you read things on the interweb there will be more bad comments then good. For the money I think my JACO was a good bye and I can deal with a few little problems. If I have bigger things to deal with then the warranty will take care of them.

 

I can't decide between 6' or 7' cargo trailer because of the wind resistance. How is it pulling that monster?
