I've heard from some that running kings with a 2-3 lift in the rear shouldn't be done because of the limited shock travel. Any input on this?

If so, will a ubolt flip make it worse; making the distance further away?

I've also heard that a shock relocation would be necessary, would the standard King 25001-121 be used or a different model?

Reasons for the questions is I don't want to spend 2700+ on kings all around and not get the full potential out of them. Now that I have the money, I want to get a better ride than my current 5100/OME setup, but want to do it right.

All input is greatly appreciated

The standard "OE" line King rear shocks are meant to be used with 0-1" of lift.
You can get longer stroke OE fit kings to work with 2-3" leaf packs.
You can also get the 12" Kings to be used with something like the BAMF shock relocation (these are 2.0 body not 2.5)
The ubolt flip has no effect on the shock, it doesn't change the fitment or travel numbers.

Depending on where you're ordering from you may want to give them a call to order so you know you're getting the correct length for your leaf pack.

There's a 2.5 rear spec'd for dakars, sites like down south motorsports list it as a option. This would be a good option for 2-3.5 inches rear lift. Flip kits just puts the bolts on the other side.

I think you have to call or email about it. I've never seen it specifically as an option on any website either.

I've only seen it as an option via downsouth when you do their "build your own mid travel kit" option. If you call you can order the correct length to fit the OE mounting locations.

A shock relocation is not necessary, that would only be required if you're going with the 12" 2.0" body Kings as @eccracer104 mentioned.

Call Micah at Downsouth Motorsports and get the Dakar modifications if you're worried about it.

Got it, I prefer just 2.5 custom length/specd, not going long travel or SAS in the front. I have no need to increase my travel in the rear with relocations and 2.0s. I've seen the droop on that setup and it's nice, but not for me. Just want enough uptravel/downtravel to have a great ride.

Oh and thanks guys for helping me understand my options, now to contact Downsouth and get pricing on these.
