    Hi All,

Just posting primarily to alert other Nexus 5X owners of a problem I had with my LG/Google Nexus 5X, but also to hear any advice of others.

So I had my phone charging and later on I noticed that smoke was coming out of it. I quickly went to unplug the charging cable out of my phone and the rubber around the cable melted onto my finger and slightly burned/cut me and the cable completely ripped apart. Now the metal end of the cord is stuck/melted/welded into the charging port of my phone. When I felt my phone it was very hot to the touch but has since cooled off. It is still operating, but there is now no way to charge it.

I called Google and they tried helping but said they couldn't since I bought it from Best Buy, but he connected me to LG. After over 30 minutes on the phone with LG, they're saying it has to go through the Product Liability Department which will take about 2-3 business days for them to contact me about this issue. This was terrible customer service (especially compared to the folks at Google) and unacceptable that they simply didn't seem to give a shit.

My two largest concerns are the safety of others that have this phone and may experience this same thing, and the fact that I now do not have an even remotely safe phone to use while LG ponders over what to do for "2-3 business days".

After looking around, it appears that others have had similar problems in the past.
