    old thread revival....
I have a 2000 Tundra with the VIP RS3000 System. I followed the instructions on page 20 of the manual and it worked just fine! I even started the engine and the doors did not lock. Working just fine. If you can't find you manual, here is the procedure:
    1) Sit in the driver's seat with the driver door open. 2) Insert the key in the ignition switch, and turn it to "ON" (not ACC) 5 times (ON-LOCK-ON-LOCK-ON-LOCK-ON-LOCK-ON) within a 10 second period. The STATUS MONITOR'S LED turns on, and the piezo "Chirper" sounds once.
YOU MUST PERFORM THE NEXT STEPS WITHIN 30 SECONDS!
    3) Select the operating mode:

    MODE
    Auto lock/unlock ON
Programming step: Close the driver's door
Programming Completion:Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" position (the chirper sounds once and exterior lights flash once)

    Auto lock/unlock OFF
Programming step: Close the driver's door, then open, and close it one more time.
Programming Completion: Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" position (the chirper sounds twice and exterior lights flash twice)

I don't know if it worked. I did this and started the truck, put it in gear and the doors didn't lock. I'll see if it worked later as nothing beeped.

It didn't work. I can't program a fob and I can't seem to do anything with this alarm. I'm real close to taking the grounds off this POS and living without it.

I couldnt get the fob to work but I got the locks to disengage. Did it beep when you had the door open and cycled the key 5 times? after that I closed the door then opened then closed then went to acc IIRC. then it beeped

heres a closer version to what mine did, Does yours have a LED security light?

    5) Step in the vehicle and make sure that all doors are closed completely
    6) Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder.
    7) Wait for more than 5 seconds.
    8) After turning the key to the ACC position, turn the key from the ACC to the
ON position 5 times within 10 seconds (Last position : ON).
➨ Status Monitor LED will illuminate for 30 seconds.
Note : In case you implement 6 times or more by mistake,
action steps 6)-8) you made will be canceled.
    Please retry from step 6).
    9) While the LED is illuminated :
    • Open and close the driver’s door 2 times.
    • Turn the key to the ACC position.
    ➨ LED will continue illuminating.
➨ Indicator lights will flash 2 times.

Ignition controlled door lock ON :
    10) While the LED is illuminated:
    • Open and close the driver’s door 1 time.
    • Turn the key ACC-ON-ACC 1 time (Last position : ACC).
➨ Indicator lights will flash 1 time.
    ➨ LED will extinguish.

Ignition controlled door lock OFF :
    10) While the LED is illuminated :
    • Open and close the driver’s door 2 times.
    • Turn the key ACC-ON-ACC 1 time (Last position : ACC).
➨ Indicator lights will flash 2 times.
    ➨ LED will extinguish.

No LED. Mine has the RS3000. Verified by the code on the black box. It has a red pushable light in the lower left bottom dash. It never lights up unless it is screwing with me, like not letting me start it when the battery is disconnected. I'm just going to disconnect the damned thing.

Here's something weird. I took off the grounds, taped them up and started the truck and everything works. So I go to lock the doors after getting out with the door switch and the horn beeped. Just like my wifes Rav4 used to do with or without the remote. Did it actually start working after I disconnected it?

Heres what I found for your RS3000

    http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamods/alarminfo/alarminfo.htm

The factory setting for the automatic door locking and unlocking function is on.

1: Sit in the drivers seat with the drivers door open.

2: Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to on (not acc) 5 times (on-lock, on-lock, on-lock, on-lock, on) within a 10 second period. The status monitors LED turns on, and the piezo chirper sounds once.
***You must perform the next steps within 30 seconds***Select the operating mode:

Automatic door locking and unlocking on: Close the drivers door. Turn the ignition switch to the lock position. The piezo chirper sounds once, and the exterior lights flash once.

Automatic door locking and unlocking off: Close the drivers door once, then open and close it one more time. Turn the ignition switch to the lock position. The piezo chirper sounds twice, and the exterior lights flash twice.

If you do not turn the ignition key to lock, or exceed 30 seconds during the programming steps, the status monitor's LED will turn off and the previous operation mode will remain.

Ok, I have a 99 with out a key fob. Just use a key to lock, unlock mine. Anyway I can disconnect the doors that automatically lock when I start the engine?

it worked perfect. Although I had to try it twice due to not following the instructions carefully. Thanks a bunch...

I was relieved to get the auto lock disabled...it was so really annoying when you had to shut off the vehicle or use the power lock switch to unlock. It was about 1/2 second too slow for opening the door too. Annoyed passengers even more. I know it seems petty but its nice to get in or out when you wanted without shutting it off or hitting the locks.
