It is funny how those things pop-up on you, takes you back to that moment. I focus on the good memories, the laughs had, and then remind myself that I am living and enjoying life for the both of us now.

Figured it was supposed to be @Techoma in a costume

 

Finally took the tonneau cover off that was on the truck when I got it.

Holy shit was that thing jerry rigged. Instead of real t-nuts, there was eleventy brazillion little pieces of aluminum blocks holding that thing to the bed rails. Couldn't really see what was going on until I took one bolt out and was like, "nah, fuck this shit" and disassembled everything. Give someone props for the patients it must have taken that for every mounting point, there was one piece in the rail, then a smaller bit (not connected, just held on by the bolt) on top of it.

I was thinking I could sell the cover but I don't think I could really get very much for it now. It's a hard quad-fold aluminum one that has two locking points (one at the cab and one at gate) but it's pretty beat.

At any rate, now I can figure out what to do with mounting tools and shit and eventually buying a bed rack so I can fit in proper.

He was a goofball so there was never any lack of good memories or laughs. I'm gonna share one just because it feels right and it's putting a smile on my face.

This one time we were all at this BBQ just chilling and working on our cars. I had a downpipe to install on my Mk4 Volkswagen GTI- it was the most hot-shit car I could afford at the time but he still bagged on me saying it was a girl's car. As I'm under this thing lining the exhaust up a TORRENTIAL downpour rolls in. I get drenched from head to toe because I couldn't just let go and run inside. (maybe I'm a little stubborn too, but the studs weren't tightened down yet) So I finish the job in the pouring rain, while he takes a pic of me from the safety of the garage...



Of course to add insult to injury this guy then goes in and ninja-edits those VW beetle daisy rims onto my car, not just in this picture but in every other picture that he had. Just stealth replaced all of 'em.


This led to a bunch of other people asking me "what's with the daisy rims?" because every pic they saw of the day (from him) was photoshopped.

If only he coulda seen the day I bought a black WRX like his...
I feel about 100x better now, that was fun. RIP Chen you miserable bastard.
