The only variable is double cab vs access cab.

    Strange.

    Original 40, or delta?

Original 40 is what I have after a month it has a nice quite sound to it but high pitched when you want it. At first no I didn't like it made the water bottles rumble but after the weld smell went away just perfect. I'm telling you the 40 is perfect I had duals on my 05 and it was perfect as well. I don't like loud I just want loud when I want. That's what I have with the 40 with a 3 inch out put on the top.

    I have a 40... it's too loud for a truck with a mildly powered v6

Pretty sure if you read the warning stickers on your sunvisor, in fine print, it states "Do not alter the exhaust in any manner. It will sound like crap and annoy anyone in ear shot while causing many to laugh at you."

Soon to be everything lol. Not my first toyoter
In my experience, across multiple cars, trucks, makes, models, street, work, race, whatever. Getting a good set of headers. Proper sized pipe as well as having it done right(had a shop only weld the bottom halfs on a full system before sending it home). Is huge to the sound. Shoot with a good header a 4cyl with stock exhaust would sound good. But for sound quality, in my experience and to my ears, I have liked magnaflow the most for me. Order it online and prices aren't terrible. Do a mangaflow muffler. And a magnaflow Resonator, with good piping bent, cut and welded right, you'll still be loud. Just not sound like absolute garbage.
