My 2008 Tacoma just lost the right side only parking lights. The left blinker signal indicator comes on when I turn on the parking lights now. I already swapped bulbs to rule out the obvious. I bought it used 7 years ago with a trailer brake hooked up and a plug at the rear bumper. Any ideas are much appreciated, thanks.

    Is your turn signals hyperblinking?

Nope, the blinkers work fine. but when I turn on the parking lights, only the left side work, and the left blinker indicator light stays on.

Okay let me repeat this so I understand correct me if I'm wrong. Both your blinkers work (left and right) but when you turn your parking lights on..the left side only comes on?

Exactly, and the left blinker indicator comes on when I turn the parking lights on. Turning the headlight switch on doesn't change anything.

Get some Electrical contact cleaner and clean the socket, then put the bulb back in. If that doesn't work, find a multimeter and start running some tests. Check socket first, then start working your way back along the wiring and look for a break somewhere. Might be not enough contact between the socket and bulb

The sockets are both very clean and I checked the bulbs. Do you think maybe the trailer wiring has something to do with it? Maybe the plus is shorted out inside?

try this, take the new bulb and push a little harder on the socket to make a better connection and see if that works. If not I think you need to run some tests to maybe find a short

I don't think it's the trailer wiring because it's been fine for the last 7 years

I tried that already, the bulbs and sockets are like new and they snap in tight. I think I need to figure out how the parking lights and turn signal indicators are connected. The trucks like new still, that's why I was thinking the aftermarket trailer wiring or plug is causing it.

Doesn't hurt to disconnect it and try it without it like 127 said

Yeah, I guess I'll start there. I was hoping someone had this happen but I can't find anything anywhere about it, thanks.

there are thousands of problems where

-someone, not at the toyota factory did something, anything, with wiring

    -something else is f**ked up

could be alarm system, hid headlight crap, anything else
    ----------------------------------------
rather than search for a wild goose chase, just start by undoing any fuckery

Actually I have the same problem with my headlamp. All the lights work except for the right park light. When I tap on the headlamp, the light comes on. Stupidest shit I've ever seen.
