Pros and Cons, Stories of permanently leaving a trailer hitch mounted on the truck, GO!

I noticed with my old truck paint/scratch marks on my rear bumper and people parking very close to the rear bumper making it difficult to exit a spot. After getting my new truck I opted to leaving my hitch in place, I think it has been a great decision as I have yet to have issues with cars parking too close or finding any scratch/paint marks on the rear bumper.

I always left it in my last truck. I haven't put it in the Tacoma yet. I'm sure the first time I pull my trailer, I'll leave the hitch in once I'm done and it'll never come out again.

That's what's in mine right now. For the 6 months of winter there's a ball hitch in there since I'm towing every weekend or two.

I have one of these permanently on the ass end of my truck. Strange leaving a hitch in is illegal in certain places. I leave mine in for people that like to ride my ass. I want maximized front end devastation for them if they hit me.

...^^^... I have the 3 ball hitch in my receiver all the time and it helps to keep tailgaters away.

Painted last one bright orange for maximum effect to tailgaters.

    Why? It's a trailer hitch.

If I leave mine in the garage door won't close. I store it in the jack bay. It does help to keep the tailgaters back though so if it weren't a pain to put in and out each day I'd leave mine in.

Where I work the parking lot is pretty tight so if you're driving down between the lanes you have even more obstacles to avoid. Some of these bozos are running some long hitches too, up to a foot or more past the bumper.

I keep a hitch in my toolbox and install when needed.
