I have been reading on here for about 4 hours, and I have learned a lot, thank you all for some much great info. As I have been reading, I haven't yet found what I'm looking for. I am not a four wheeler per se, so I'm not looking to overdo our truck. I bought a 2016 Taco, 4x4, quad cab, long bed. I am moving to Kauai next month and I wanted to put a bigger tire set up on my truck. I was hoping to put 285\75 R16 BFG KO with 16x8's. I am not going to be doing any heavy 4-wheeling, I just want a look and a bit more to drive on dirt roads. I am assuming that I need a lift, there are so many options, it seemed, that either an Icon, an One Tak16, or a Boss kit would be necessary for the truck to not have any rubbing issues. Is this correct? If I do need a lift kit, which of these will offer the best results?
    Thank you for your help!

All of the suspension kits you mentioned only affect rubbing at ride height. You are still using stock geometry. Meaning when you turn into a driveway and the suspension compresses to your ride height today, zero difference. The key is wheel backspacing and some clearancing (cab mount chop and cutting some plastics).

so theres no combination that will keep one from having to modify the truck? It seems when I was reading threads, people had mentioned so many rubbed and people even argue about what rubs and what doesn't. Are you saying I can put the above wheel/tire combination without anything? no lift? I thought a lift offered the ability to add bigger tires and body clearance? Am I missing something?

Like I said. The lift helps with rubbing at ride height only. Icon, Boss, King, Fox are all just coilovers. All they do is add preload with stock geometry arms. Personally I think the truck needs a little lift to match with larger tires (aesthetically). But it's not going to make a difference of how much you need to trim away to clear the tire when you stuff it.

And the reason people argue is because there are hundreds of wheel and tire combinations. Different wheel backspacing, offset, width all come into play.
