Back up camera and hitch camera

Does any one have any experience using back up cameras on any vehicle not just a taco? Any recommendations?wired unit or wireless? I'm looking at the type unit that has a separate monitor that sits on the dash.I'm leary of the 40$ units I'm finding on Amazon and walmart.I don't mind hard wiring a unit but I want the camera that bolts to the license plate tag so I don't have to drill any holes. Let me here your thoughts.

 

I have this unit from Auto Zone.
I went with the 4.3 inch screen .
I'm quite happy with it performance.

How does it work at night? Is it clear?

 

I find it works better with my vehicle light out , as the camera has it's own lighting, and it doesn't wash out (too much light)

With the backup lights from the truck and the camera, the pic is hard to see ( if you need to see details ) with the truck lights off , much better contrast!

 

Might want to look at Rostra. That is where I picked up my back-up camera that works with the OEM head unit. They have lots of options.

 

I don't have a factory screen in my truck I'll be using a monitor that comes in a back up kit.so you are talking about disabling the back up lights on your truck and using the light that's built in to the camera?

 

They have both kinds of kits - I would think - the light that is built in with the camera. They also carry camera to mount forward as well. They have lots of options
