Ok so i had to remove the cap to re-do the seal. I tried Extruded Solutions Ultra Cap Seal and this thing was so thick it added a good 1/4 to 1/2 in to the height of the shell from sitting on top of the seal - even with cranking down the clamps. I am switching to their SuperCap Seal and am hoping it compresses better under the weight of the shell.

My question to you 1st Gen owners with a cap, if you do have a liner, did you cut the front rail portion off that hangs over the rail to hold it in place? I should've grabbed a picture - will update shortly so my q makes more sense - o_O

    Thanks.

I left my bedliner intact, no cutting. I've had no problems whatsoever with cap staying in place. And no water leaking between cap and rail. FWIW.

Thx for the reply - I just cant figure out where the hell the extra gap is coming from. Didn't have this issue without the liner. Weird.

make sure the liner is sitting down on the rail and not propped up. I haven't had any issues with tonneau or cap with my "under the rail" liner

I think maybe as I type that the rubber/gasket up front is either not there or thinner than the sides. I replaced the sides when I got it used but never the front.

I also just used "cap tape" which is very thin as that's all you need to make sure water doesn't flow in and provides a good enough seal.
