I had the Toyota dealership install my ECGS bushing. I stressed to install the bushing Flush with the carrier as the directions state. Following the maintenance I've taken it back twice now for an oil leak. Toyota replaced the seal both times. I might have a small leak again. Any ideas what could be causing this? When I take it back, I want to point them in the right direction.

Maybe ECGS bushing require their own recommended seals different than factory?? IDK but I'd double check.
Other than that the level needs to be just below the fill plug and the diff breather valve functioning properly.

Edit: Oh, and I'd check for any gouges or damage to the housing that may have been caused during installation

    Best of luck
    Cheers!

Weird. First I've heard of an issue like this with ECGS. Many guys use the OEM seal again, no requirement to replace the seal but maybe they damaged your existing seal? Surprised you were able to get them to put a non OEM part on your truck. Under Warranty?

The ECGS bushing can't be related to the oil leak unless they somehow installed it very wrong like not driving it far enough by a large amount??? Did you look under truck and confirm its coming from the axle seal? Also surprised they would install that part for you. Surely they must have charge you for that????

I'd bet they gouged the sealing surface on the diff housing. Can you see if it's leaking around the outer edge of the seal or if it's leaking from the shaft seal area?

Not warranty work. I worked a deal for a significant reduction in labor cost so I had Toyota do it.

I did confirm it was coming from the seal. The 1st leak left a pool of oil in my garage. I did pay for the bushing install. Obviously the dealership is not charging me for the last 2 seal replacements.

I couldn't tell if it was the inner or outer area. I told them if the leak comes back that I want to be there when they're doing the work. If it continues to leak, I'll inspect the surfaces myself. Thanks
