?

Should you have a trailer hitch mounted permanently on the truck?

    Heh...

You turn it so whatever ball you need (or hook) is facing up. Basically I move around 5 different trailers at random, 3 have the most common (2" I think) ball, the other have the small and the biggest. Instead of swapping out trailer balls or forgetting which hitch to bring, I just have this. Plus the hook worked great for yanking a couple stumps and a stuck trailer out.

I also heard of cons of having a hitch and getting rear ended by car. I was told that if the car hits you hard enough it could damage the frame of the truck. My argument to that is that if the truck gets rear ended with enough impact there may be frame damage regardless if the hitch was there or not.

Thanks, I've only had to use a 2" ball hitch I thought that was the standard for trailers.

Plus you're faaaaaaaar more likely to have some douchebag tap your bumper then take off in a parking lot than you are to get hit hard enough for a hitch to damage your frame. If it does happen, you've likely got bigger problems to worry about regardless of that hitch.
