sad to say but I traded in my '07 Tacoma Sport. But I replaced it with a '17! It came off another lot so I got everything I wanted. It didn't have mudflaps & factory & Weather Techs are really long. Anyone know of another brand a little shorter?

I'm wondering this also. The stock mudflaps are way too long. Here is what I have been able to figure out so far ...

    OEM clearance
    rear - 11.5 inches
    front 8 inches

    WeatherTech clearance
    rear - 10.75 inches
    front 9 inches

    Husky clearance
    rear - 12 inches
    front 11.5 inches

I'm leaning toward WeatherTechs, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet

How do you like the WeatherTechs? Do they attach firmly using the factory mounts?

One of the guys (here or another site) made a template and cut the OEM mudflaps and melted the edges and they looked really good.

$38k truck not going to half ass it with tin snips. Guy at work has Huskys. I ended up having $40 in Amazon bonus so went Huskys.

I would look into rokblokz mudflaps, they look very good and are not made of plastic

I cut my G2 dumbo ears back years ago about 4" all around by making a template and cutting each with a nice sharp jig saw. I finished it off with a fine metal file. Looks perfect, you would never know that it was a DIY thing.

Finally got the Plasticolor short 9" flaps on. Took those "too hard" Rokblokz plastic sheets off. So far, the plasticolor's are what I was hoping for in terms of flex and pliability. Much smaller and can mount anywhere you'd like.

Will finally be putting up those plastic sheets for sale. They have some rock rubbed lower edges on them though and the front are slightly modified so they don't stick out past the fender flares as much.

Plasticolor better functionality and better price as compared to RokBlokz Rally Armor, etc.

I have the longer ones. I went over a rock last weekend and the flap just bent over the rock. nothing happened

Agreed with the Plasticolor being much more usable than those flat spikes I had on. Each time I traversed anything rocky, I just heard the plastic scrape with hopes of not tearing the lower fender flare mounts off.
    IMG_8836.jpg

The Rokblokz are have very little "yield" in mounted vertical compression direction vs. the fiberglass reinforced vinyl the Plasticolors are molded in. I didn't know any better, but figured I'd give the Rokblokz a go during the first GB. Even at GB pricing, they were still waaaay expensive.

Two sets of the plasticolor for $40 shipped, can't beat that and still stiff enough to be functional. I did have to add a third bracket mounted to the front flaps to keep them from being too floppy. Did either one of you notice the fronts being "floppy"?

I used the screws it came with to add extra support. They don't flop
