    I've been there. You're second guessing because you don't want to take a huge mpg hit. This is the very reason I went with AT3's the first go around. But it was a silly move. Yes they're load E, but they are fantastic tires and the mpg difference between the two is minimal. The weight of these tires would make you believe that you're going to take a noticeable mpg hit...not the case. I lost 1 mpg from the AT3's, which gave me the same mpg's as the BF Rugged Fails.

    Now that we've gotten the mpg fears out of the way, let's talk performance. I have driven with these on mud roads, dirt roads and pavement both on sunny days and in downpours. These tires handled it all with ease in 2wd. The way they grip the road and just barrel through in a stable and quiet manner is a testament to its design. And I'm pretty confident about being able to avoid punctures and gashes with the ArmorTek and cut and chip resistant tread compound combo. Take off is a tad slower due to the weight of these, but I don't mind. I typically drive like there's an egg under the pedal anyways.

    With all that said, pull the trigger if you're seriously considering these tires. Don't make the mistake I and others in this thread have done by going with load C tires first. Given what this tire is able to do, I now understand why Cooper doesn't make the 275/75/16 in load C...they don't need to!

    Anytime. Be sure to post some pics after you get them put on. And depending on whether you're lifted or at stock height, this thread has a lot of detail on the alignment numbers you should be shooting for. And I don't experience a pull to the right though some do.

    Here are my 285/75/16 Cooper St Maxx's on the OEM 5 star wheel. I have put 25,198 miles on them as of today and bought them from Discount Tire Direct back in October 2015. Primarily daily driven on pavement, the tires have worn evenly and perform exceptionally well both on and off-road. Mud, sand on the beach, dirt, you name it and it takes it. I will definitely be a future customer of Cooper Tires without a doubt.

    No lift. The TRD wheels keep them tucked in so they don't rub during normal driving.

    Really pissed off right now. I just bought a new set of ST Maxx like two weeks ago because I knocked my old ones out of round after driving the Dalton highway in Alaska. Super rough road. So in order to get rid of all of the variables I bought new wheels and the new ST Maxx. First day after they were mounted they rode like shit. They've now been balanced 6 times and still ride like absolute crap.

    Have had them road force balanced 3 of those 6 times sadly. I should add that my last set of ST Maxx rode absolutely perfectly until I knocked em out of round. Hence why I decided to buy them again. I think I just got a bad set of tires honestly.

    Haven't done that. Don't have any others to put them on and unfortunately I don't think any shop would loan me some try. Who knows though maybe I'm wrong. Suspension and everything is in great condition. I know it's the tires/wheels for sure because they were road force balanced one day and rode great until they shot weights off. Of course I know by now that some tires were placed on the vehicle in certain positions after road forcing because when I recently swapped the two in the front one rode significantly worse. And if they have to be certain positions to even ride nice then I can't even rotate them.
