So... I am from the midwest (not that it is relevant). I frequently travel to Tacoma, WA for work. This evening, someone got creamed by a car outside of my hotel (no word whether or not they survived). Just a few months ago within a couple blocks, same thing. A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed.

Anyone familiar with the area knows that there are a lot of steep roads with few stoplights/signs in the downhill direction. There are stop signs on the cross streets.

Anyone from the area, or familiar with the area see this as a trend? Or is this just a coincidence that these incidents occurred so closely together?

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Can I ask where you are staying to see that? It isn't typically the cars fault here. Lots of random homeless and just plain dumb people cross in areas that a car won't see you.

HIEX Downtown. I am not saying that it was the fault of either the driver or the pedestrian, and could very well be a combination of both. I do know that pedestrians dont really have the right of way, but you would also think that people would slow down a bit heading down a steep hill to a blind intersection.

Nah. People here are dumb. Rated worst drivers in the states, and for good reason. It's a mixture of getting your DL without passing tests, to not even being able to see over the steering wheel. I imagine half the pedestrians hit are hit by a driver going under the speed limit anyway

Id say in this general area, there are a lot of college students and homeless as well as people from out of town that don't realize crossing the street here is like a game of frogger.
