What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

What I really don't understand and makes me so worked up is at, why the f*** does Toyota sell us "TRD model trucks" without TRD parts , such as the TRD air intakes , TRD exhaust, TRD shift knobs, TRD grill etc... and priced our trucks premium money? Just putting a sticker saying TRD on the truck doesn't make it worth TRD truck.... the missing parts do. I am normally not to swear,... but motherf******s !. . .

 

TRD Sport/OffRoad have upgraded suspension , wheels, tires, etc. If they had all of the TRD parts it would be a TRD Pro.

 

TRD Pro doesn't even come with TRD intake... How messed up is that!

 

Go for the 5160 if you can and try out jet.com and see if the discount code works for it. That's how I bought my 5100 rears with a 15% discount.

 

I think all the base models and my Sport has the same hitachi suspension. Great! I have a suspension from a home appliance company that also made my bread toaster.
Besides, what "Racing Development" is involved in wheel rims and tires?!? My Sport came with normal Goodyear all weather tires.
We all will eventually change our wheels and tires whether TRD or not. If they were going to slap on a TRD name to the truck, then the very least they should've had the decency to add some performance parts to honor the TRD legacy.
If they wanted to make Pro, they could've made it even better. They had a whole year to do it.
All I am saying is, had I known my truck had so many performance parts missing at the time of my purchase, I wouldn't have paid so much more for mine over the other models .
But wait,.. we get a hood swoop.

 

TRD pro 4runner doesn't come with TRD intake or exhaust either. Ours has the exact same parts as my sisters limited and my buddy David's trail premium. Kind of pissed me off when we got it after waiting when I ordered it. Basically just leather seats, badges and a suspension package.

 

Yeah... Just as well. If you're gonna spend the money for one, I'd get the AFE intake anyway... Which I did.

If there are any improvements to be had, I would tend to think a cone shaped filter with more surface area would preform better/more efficiently than a flat filter with less surface area. Just my .02¢

Man, those wheels look awesome. I ordered some black fuel hostage wheels. Sure wish I'd seen these first. I wonder how they'd look on my quicksand taco?

Fixed my leaking diff myself. And while I was at it added an ARB and 4.88's.

 

Adjusted my hitch to get the camper level/take some weight off the Tacoma. Camper is 4122lbs dry, about 4,400 in the photo.
