My new 'old' truck shares a lot in common with my old 3rd gen..

So I picked up a new toy. A 1972 Chevy Cheyenne 3/4 ton 4x4. Body straight, no rust holes. It has some things in common with my old third gen!

    1. Drum rear brakes
    2. The TH350 tranny hard shifts like the third gen.
    3. Virtually no dealer support
    4. Both interiors are badass.

One thing the 3rd gen had over this guy? It got better gas mileage. The C20 gets 10mpg whereas my old 3rd gen got 16.

Just a good natured ribbing, lol. Always wanted a 70's Chevy. This one is in great shape.

I prefer the GMC front end, but otherwise I think they are great trucks. If it were mine, I would do the Blazer tank mod and call it good.

It's got one remaining auxilarry tank. The one mounted on the passenger side was removed. Might get another one. That would give me, oh, 75gal of fuel, lol

Oh come on.. any classic truck is cool. Like a 1972 Toyota.

Oh wait. There aren't any. They all rusted away.

Yeah I saw the extra cap in the bed. I just like the blazer tank mod to get the fuel tank out of the cab and between the frame rails.

That would tank the value a bit, pardon the pun.

This one stays in my shop. I horsetraded a small mid 90's John Deere tractor with a loader for this.

I need a bigger HP tractor anyway...

IMG_2456.jpg IMG_2455.jpg Engine bay is in great shape. That's unrestored after 100,000 miles. One spot of surface rust.

Nice truck. I have a 70 Chevy Custom Sport Truck in yellow. Half ton short bed. My dad bought it brand new. Mine is a manual however...like all trucks should be. With that said my 2016 shifts a million times nicer than that old 4 speed.

    This one is 3spd, lol.

I would've loved a manual, but this truck was too nice to pass up.

So one other thing it has in common- wavy hood.

I'm ordering the hood frame support felt today for $39

My 70 is for all intents a 3 speed. First is too low for pavement driving use. I start in second gear on the roads.
