I'm really thinking about getting a nice RC and making a big trail/track in my back yard.

I've got a Traxxas Slash 4x4 and in process of building 2 Vaterra Twin Hammers...fun stuff

 

Sweet. I love the Twin Hammers. It is my go to rig. I have built 3 versions of it, and one RTR.

I have yet to run any 3s lipos. Still on 2s all around so couldn't say for sure, but I have used a variety of aluminum servo horns in my rigs and never had any troubles.

 

You need a metal gear servo

 

And a complimenting clamping servo horn. Get yourself 4-5 of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/381210208817

 

The clamping horns are really nice.

 

The servo is likely a metal geared Tactic.

 

Yep, until you burn out your Tactic

 

Tactic servos are junk. Spend the money on a high torque savox or hitec when the time comes

 

I would give that a go. An easy upgrade for some always welcomed top end.

 

I haven't had terrible experiences with Tactics, but have burned up one and heard this from many.

 

While it aint necessarily the sexiest choice, Traxxas generally makes good stuff from all I have experienced and heard.

 

Almost done making my forward mount battery tray for "my daughters" scx10. Also have all electronics pulled off and waterproofing, plan is to have is roof deep in mud and water by the weekend
