Painting a used truck cap

TW, since I purchased my truck last year, I've been looking for a used truck cap while saving for a new one. I've come across the proper specs just wrong paint (mgm). There's currently a maroon on for sale on Craigslist for 300. Has anyone here purchased used and repainted to match? I was quoted 800-1000 over the phone. Told the glass would have to come out. Thoughts/advice?

 

You're close to the price of a new color matched topper at $1300, depending on options. I'd shop around and look at new ones. The one advantage to having a used one professionally painted is they should be able to color match to a used trucks faded paint. When you buy a new one, they used the manufactures color code for the truck, which after a few years in the sun, has definitely faded.

 

For that price I'd keep looking or just buy a new one. Those windows don't HAVE to come out, they can be masked off. Get any other price estimates or just that one?
