Not very noticeable change due to the color of the truck and still unsure how I like it, we shall see... I did see a truck with the hood plastidipped and that looks pretty sweet. Hard not to platiderp things when it's so easily reversible!

Sprayed my lower center piece and grill surround today...... I had the grill insert sprayed white as well, but f'd it up when pulling tape off.

Question... Can you spray over plastidip with a different color?... Or should I peel off the old one?.... I want to redo the grill surround in white instead of the black.

Depends on how old it is. More than a few months I would peel and spray. More because of UV exposure than anything else.

    Hi,
I am thinking that i would like to Plasti Dip the chrome plastic rear bumper covers of my '16 SR5.
I would like to color match the SR5 wheels ... which are a medium silver in color.
    Two questions ....
    1) Who has the best selection of Plasti Dip aerosol products in the Bellingham Washington area?
    2) What color of Plasti Dip best matches the SR5 wheels?
The selection of Plasti Dip colors and retail outlets in my area are limited.
Thanks for any and all help!

How long will a good plastidip job last on the interior?

The console of my taco is scratched up and I want to coat it.

    Hey all,

So I tried my hand at plastidipping my emblems yesterday, and sadly- it was a disaster. After much research and YouTube watching, I picked up all the necessary items, cleaned the badge areas, taped, newspapered, etc.

I felt my application was even and appeared smooth. The problem started after the 5th coat. (The first 4 were done in 15 min intervals). When I peeled off the tape, there was no plastidip peel to come along with it. It was like painting a wall, and all that was left behind was a clean line of plasti. It was smooth and actually sort of hard. I could not peel the plasti and the toothpick trick was useless. They just kept breaking. I eventually just used "goo gone" on all my applications and removed the plasti. I have no idea if the applications were too thin??IMG_3890.jpgIMG_3898.jpg

Are you saying the dip wouldn't peel off the paint? Strange. What product did you use?

Yep. That's what I'm saying. Just plain ol' Plastidip in a spray can.. After a bit more research, I realized that 1) I was not applying enough product to "rubberize" the coating. And 2) 30 degrees Celsius speeds the drying time on a thin coat.

I'm happy to report I tried again today and the results were awesome. I barely even had to use the toothpick in between the "A's" and "O".

Glad it worked out. I did 5 coats at 30 minute intervals.

Popped my plasti dip cherry. I'd give myself a B-

A few small blemishes that only I would probably notice and I don't care enough to peel it off and redo. I'd rather just de-badge it.

Apologies if this has already been covered.. on my badges I've noticed a bit of dip kinda chipped off on the edges, is it okay to just do some fresh spray over the old or do I have to scrape it all and re-apply?

You can usually just spray over unless the plasti is really old.

I plan on dipping my front bumper piece and fender flares on my 2017 sport this weekend. Couple of questions.
Whats the necessary prep work before i apply the first coat?
Wheres the best place to buy plastidip?
Anything else i need before i start or just the plastidip?
Is there some type of coating i should spray on after its been dipped to protect it?
    Thanks
