Hello All,

Recently picked up a 2002 Tacoma and love it! The truck had a terrible frame but very low miles for a 02. Ok here's my story.. I was there at a 2003 but the truck had been abused unfortunately so I passed. As I was about to leave was told about a beautiful truck in the back that they cannot seem to sell because of a horrid frame. Like most of course I said let me check it out. I feel in love immediately, bad frame and all. The truck was drivable but thats about it. I asked why the frame hadn't been taken care of under warranty and was told that he used to work for Toyota and there were stipulations and requirements (own for 6-12mos) etc. Told me I may be able to find a wrecked Taco and get a frame or find a good fab shop. Somewhat let down I drove the truck down the road a immediately called Toyota to run the vin. I explained my situation and the representative very nicely explained to me this truck 100% available for frame recall under no corporate requirements other than ownership! So I called in a favor from a buddy at my local dealership on the test drive and the did a frame check for me. Needless to say it failed. Went back the next day and purchased the truck for a helluva deal and drove it directly to the dealership to drop it off. Below is how she stands today. Currently doing typical tune up and gave her some new shoes. I've already been conversing on the 1st gen forum and admire all the awesome Tacoma's on here. Love reading all the threads and I will be leaning on the knowledge of some of you. You know your stuff. In wrap I hope to rub off some of my good fortune on all my fellow taco owners. If I understood correctly... Toyota agreed to replace your frame?

 

That is correct. New frame, leafs and other components were replaced
