Sometimes you can find deals at safe dealers.. If a safe has been sitting too long, sometimes they'll have a good deal on a nice one.
Also you may find one used maybe on craigslist, I'd get a pro to switch out the lock.

As far as the dial/keypad, I'd advise the person to think about just how much they plan on opening it.. The keypad is obviously more convenient.. But The dial, not effected by batteries, like others have mentioned. So they'd wanna weight all that out.

And like others are mentioning, be sure to get a solid fire rating or else you're just buying cheaper insurance more or less.. I'd rather spend a little more up front and know I had a decent safe and feel confident in it.. Verse being worried if something happened it wouldn't hold up as good as a better one.

I'd really like to see a sticky thread in this section where everyone posts their personal experience with specific brands and models to help guide others to make wiser consumer choices. I feel like I have to sift through so many unrealistic expectations and vapid complaints when I'm reading online reviews on retailer's websites.

You need double barrels. Those black AR AK Uzi 19s 30 clip assault machine gun rifle automatics aren't necessary. I'm offended just looking at them.. Reported.

I'll be buying a safe this week, budget is around ~$1000. Do you guys not recommend them to go upstairs because that was my plan is to put it in my closet. Not quite sure how I'm gonna get it up the stairs though....

Depending on where you're getting it from, sometimes they deliver (for a charge of course). I'd recommend that if you can, last thing you want is to be wrestling a safe up the stairs and have it take you for a ride and flatten you like a pancake. Not joking.
Seriously, worth a little extra to have somebody else do it.. Even if you don't buy it from a dealer, sometimes you can pay one to pick it up where you bought it and deliver anyway.. They have it down to a science and most times have special tools and hand trucks etc to maneuver it.
