I guess I got lucky when they replaced mine before the tsb came out. And I did not have to leave it until my new one came in.

Mine went real quick too after the part came in. Must be a simple swap.

Its an extremely quick part change. The bulletin calls for 0.4 hours, and that includes disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
After having my truck do (at least 17 documented resets over 12+months), I still watch EVERY start anticipating a fail, but over 3k miles, it hasn't had one hiccup. Maybe someday the fear will subside.

Just wanted to add my experience with this issue. I had this happen twice within the first week of owning my CPO taco (9k miles). I called this and the transmission shifting issues in to Corp and got a case number to which they've never heard of any such issues.... so I made an appointment and took it in for some other TSBs and of course they could not reproduce the issue. I decided to talk the polite approach and talked to the service manager who was very fast to say they would just order the part and swap it out. Had to leave my truck there for a week while the meters shipped. Just got it back yesterday and am glad to not have to worry about this issue any longer. My build date was 1/16.

Had mine replaced last August and have had no random resets. Build date 12/15.

    Good luck....
.....Actually, if you can get it arranged that they order the part and give you a mileage to be at or not exceed until said part arrives, I would encourage someone to get it fixed that way. If the Tripmeter has failed, it IS defective. And the time to get it replaced is while you have it under warranty.
    Otherwise, Good Luck #2.

I can report a successful replacement. I dropped off my truck on 2/27 and picked it up on 3/4 (they required the truck be deadlined). In addition to the cluster replacement, the tranny was topped off and the latest revision flashed. I was thoroughly happy with the process and the go-cart of a Corolla they gave me as the rental wasn't too bad.

I had this happen twice, then a long stretch it was fine. Coming up on 15k service, it happened again. Told them to knock both out at the same time and check transmission fluid level. Took it in 4/20 supposedly back 4/25. I specially requested a truck and the dealership set me up in a Ford F-150. I just have to bring it back topped off, been getting 20 mpg around town, so saved a few miles on the Tacoma.IMG_0384.jpg

Has anyone in Canada experienced and done anything with this issue ? I have my 2016 trip meter resetting about twice a month. I took it to Stampede Toyota, Calgary, explained the service writer and showed T-SB that I printed from here . They said TS-B is for US only and they don't follow in Canada. As I expected, the technician couldn't verify the problem and will not do anything. I am not sure what else I can do.

No, they wont be able to replicate the problem, I guarantee it. Surely you must have alternative routes to get this addressed.
I think your dealership is.being lazy and obstinate.
    Call corporate?'
Track every fail. Be anal about it. Dont give in. It HAS to be fixed.

Take a picture of the fuel app when it does it again it will blank out the history and they will not be able to deny it! I would be more specific to the fuel app name, but I am in Maui on the lanai drinking a beer. Love their Tacoma trucks here! Good luck!
