    Hey,
So I just bought an ARE CX camper shell for my White 2013 shortbed Tacoma. After having it installed I realized that you can see the black plastic bed cap sticking out under the bottom edge of the shell. So I am curious if anyone has taken the bed cap off and mounted the shell directly to the metal bed?

Well you don't want to do that, it is supposed to seal against that black plastic cap. Second are you sure you have a CX? I think the V series doesn't cover the bedsides so maybe they sold you the wrong model. I don't think the CX came in a version that doesn't cover the sides.

will have to get some pictures after work of what I mean. Its relatively minimal it just seems noticeable to me since it's a white truck. It says it's the right shell on the serial number tag but it just seems to be sticking out a little bit. Here is a close up of what I mean. This is the only picture I have right now but can get more later today

That looks like a flaw in the build. Mine does not show any black on the sides. I have a red truck so it would show too.
