Is there a way to prevent the exhaust gases from recirculating into the intake on the V6?

    Thanks, Bill

Don't know about the 4.0 Taco, however of the '99 to '04 Mustang V8s you just had to block off the flow from the manifold to the EGR valve--they sold "kits" (a block-off plate for the EGR port and a cap for the manifold connection) for this but using a pair of flat jaw vise-grips to crush the pipe could do it just as well. You could disable EGR in the tune, but with the EEC-V ("eek-5") system on the Mustangs the EGR was not a monitored system so it really didn't matter. The Toyota shop manuals do not have as much "how it works" information as Ford's but I'll take a look and see what I can see.

Perhaps someone has some direct knowledge re: Toyota's implementation of EGR on our trucks...

You have a 2011 Tacoma by your signature with the 1GR-FE 6 cylinder. There is no EGR System on that engine.

For the '12-'15, you will need the sim, and a block off plate.

I think that you are talking about the Air Injection System that injects fresh air into the exhaust that was started in 2012 on the V6.

He is talking about Exhaust Gas Recirculation ( EGR ) that takes exhaust and injects it into the intake.

Tacoma 1GR-FE or 2TTR-FE has no EGR system.

    Thanks, I appreciate the info!

What emission systems are there on the pre-2012 Tacos? Other than catalytic converters?
