Hey fellas, I'm toying with the idea of converting my 2nd gen Prerunner to 4wd eventually.

Mechanically, I know there are options. The common sentiment is, "It's cheaper to buy a different truck..." I get it. Trading my truck for a 4x4 doesn't make sense, but converting to 4wd does. I definitely like the idea of a manually-actuated xfer case, something that wasn't an option on a traditional 4wd.

Anyone that's done a 2nd gen SAS conversion sitting on IFS parts they'd like to get rid of? Preferably Southern California?

Still interested, yes. Not on the 'anytime soon' list but on the list nonetheless!

Notice that statistically many of the guys that do the 4X4 conversion end up doing a SAS eventually :D

That's such a bad ass rig. Love it!

Look at those shiny links. If I were to do it all over again...I would go with aluminum links. Lot easier to maneuver doing suspension work than heavy ass DOM links...and they pop back into a straight shape if you smash them hard on a rock. Granted...it takes a shit ton of abuse to bend DOM links but when they bend that's pretty much it for them. Lot of people here in AZ run aluminum links.
