    Maybe Toyota should drop the new V6 and 8 speed transmission from the 2017 highlander in the 2018-2019 Tacoma then since everyone seems happy with the updated 2017 highlander and have no complaints with them.

    It's funny that 2017 will be the first year the highlander outsells the Tacoma.

    Not offend at all. I consider this an exchange of thought, not an agreement. I actually worked for Honda at one of their assembly plans. Fit and finish were beyond approach. Now that i work for Toyota im seeing more quality issue than ten years ago. When you see a Tundra come in with a box misaligned by an inch to one side you know that something is not right at the factory. It use to be that the quality of Toyota's vehicle was very precise. Gaps around panels was spot on. You just didn't see the same issues we see today. From my experience the Toyota vehicles coming from Japan have less issues as far as fit and finish. Even with these issues I still think Toyota still build a quality vehicle but I am concerned with some of the issues we now see.

    We just bought a 17 Highlander last month, and I will say that it shifts a hell of lot better then my truck does..

    Makes a huge difference in the ride quality due to lack of vibrations. The 3RD uses rubber engine/trans mounts which is linked to many of the drive related complaints.

    My 98 needs about 10k in int/ext, body and mechanical work to be "shiny and proud" again. But with 240k on the V6 I'm leaning towards buying a new rig. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

    It's a possibility. I want to keep it in the family, but is it worth it, for instance, to repaint it? How much reliability is remaining in her V6? She's not driven easily, not a Freeway Princess, I'll get shot by my road raging lovely fellow human neighbors if I don't step on it!
