I really curious how this combo will work, please report back how it goes cause this is exactly how I'd like to do my setup. I was interested in the PC but so many people say that it's almost pointless with an auto trans that shifts like an old lady but if the shift points are changed then maybe the PC will really wake this thing up and cure my longing for a programmer. I think it could be the golden combo

    LOL,

I did order one on Sunday (shift controller - not a beer). I just had a thought about what would happen if the device failed/shorted and try to put the transmission in a low gear while at high speed. All they had to say was, the computer will prevent it from happening. My understanding was a rev limiter cuts fuel from the engine until the RPM's are below the redline, not that it will prevent the transmission from going into a low enough gear that would also cause damage.

    Back to real questions lol

Does the shiftsense beep every time the gears shift or just beep once when going into Sport mode?

I like mine...been driving it for two days now. Cruise control still is not to my satisfaction. Other than that, aces!

I havent tested the Cruise Control using it yet. Today I got to drive on the highway some and i dont think i once saw 6th gear due to traffic. I really like how the device keeps you in the power band, but that means sometimes it may be in a lower gear than you are used to it being in... i guess im still getting used to it.

This is legitimate. One of our work trucks blew an engine under compression, engine braking down a very steep long hill. This truck had a rev limiter and was useless under compression. (the tires were turning the motor basically)

    Truck was a manual...

Seems like the electronic nannies won't let the truck shift down faster than the truck can handle under compression.

On another note on this same long steep hill if I put it into first gear and try and coast under compression it'll go up to (or close to ) redline then upshift on its own to save the motor.

Update to me running shift sense with Sprint booster. I've found that the best sprint setting for me is the lowest sensitivity that it offers at Sport-1. Since the shift sense holds the gears longer, there's no need for the sprint to really modify and "amplify" the signals sent to open the throttle.

Basically the truck becomes more twitchy as you increase the sprint sensitivity as the truck sits in a lower gear in a higher rpm. Its not noticed as much with only the Sprint booster installed because you are in a higher gear and out of the power band. You can probably compare it to "bucking" a manual transmission.

Since I already have the sprint booster, I'm keeping both in. Otherwise for most folks, they can probably do without a sprint booster and just the shift sense.

Edit: prior to shift sense, I was running the sprint booster in Sport-9 and on occasion Race-5.

Manual and auto transmissions are way different on deceleration. lots of parasitic drag in an auto through torque converter and pump and stuff compared to a direct connection in a manual so it's not compareable on deceleration

System recognizes your command an refuses to allow tranny to physical shift to the selected gear. You may put shifter in second but tranny will not be allowed to down shift to that low a gear at that certain speed.

Similar to when the TH400 tranny would shift its on self if held in low gear to long. You had to modify valve body to be able to hold TH400 in low gear for you desired shift point. Which was controlled by line pressure if you are not to young to recall that.

To clarify, I don't have the unit.

Tested 72mph (my usual cruising speed) in 5th and it's about 2300rpm, in 6th it's 1800rpm. I really don't see why you'd wait until 77mph to go to 6th, the idea of an automatic transmission is to change down when it needs to. If you lowered the 5th and 6th gear speed at <15% throttle I'd buy one, otherwise it just feels like I'm wasting fuel and engine.

Which disengages the unit until you get back down to 25mph and you can use it again.
