Yes, the 4R takes the long one and the cap came (both) came with the short.

The verified purchase reviews say it's a direct replacement. No tube change needed for the Tacoma.
That said I ordered mine, at just under $16 shipped, why not?

There is a perforated Tube in the center of the housing, I believe there are 2 different lengths available depending on application.

FYI the center post and parts (the guts) are pretty simple to swap. I dropped my plastic housing on my garage floor and the parts went flying everywhere. I put it back together blindly since I wasn't exactly examining it before hand and I couldn't find a diagram. It went back together pretty easily.

A few listed in the signature
I installed mine when I did the first oil change. Just a better quality part overall. Just swap the guts as someone else said.

Its the correct Housing, however the Center Tube may or may not have to be swapped out.

You IS looking at the right one. I bought the same for my truck, 3.5 V6. The housing is a direct bolt on, but some may require removing the perforated post and the spring/ plunger on the plastic housing and swap it over to the new one. It's not hard at all. I got lucky. Also, another guy in the Amazon reviews said it was direct bolt on with nothing needing to get swapped.

so when you say 'swapped out' you mean I need to put the already installed post from my truck into the new housing? Does this housing come with a post already installed inside it?

Correct, if by chance the Aluminum One has the wrong length tube then you will simply swap the one from the current Plastic one.

Ok, thanks. Will the housing not go on if the wrong tube is installed?

That, I do not know, you will be able to tell if it is the correct one by matching it up to your current one.

IMG_0245.jpg Ok @Z50king and the rest who are confused.
My exact part number on the box of the aluminum housing with my used plastic one.

You have to reuse the drain plug and replace all the O-rings as the oil filter kit includes these.
The perforation protrudes 8mm from the body when viewed from orthographic side view. For those that don't have metric scales, it's about 5/16" protrusion. This is the correct one, not sure how much longer the "wrong" tube is, since I didnt get that particular housing.

    Proof in the PICS:

I just ordered. Thanks. I'll have the techs figure it out when they change my oil next time. I have 4 more Toyota Care oil changes left. Might as well have them do anything that breaks something with the wrong post!

Yes, I didn't have enough complaints for an extended warranty so they gave me 75k worth of oil changes.

Wonder what @smitty99 got. You two seem to be the popular diff replacement members.
