That's awesome. Got anymore details on the materials you used and how you attached it at the hinge end?

Just an average two hinges. I drilled through my cap ceiling to mount everything. Between using rubber washers and the RTT over top I'm not concerned about water getting in. The cap I got doesn't have the channels for the load bars, but if it did I would use some aluminum plate to bridge the two areas where the factory mounted bolts come through and use the plate as a base for the mounting hardware for this mod. Three sides are 2"x2" aluminum angle and I cut a 3" wide by 3/16 plate for the fourth side. Some cheap gas struts from Amazon and a couple latches from the hardware store. The tray portion could have been so much cleaner if I had a tig machine but I'm still saving up for one. Instead I riveted everything together.

Also built a drawer system based off of @2012Taco build. Bunch of skateboard bearings, aluminum channel, and a Kregjig to get it done.

I added a spring pin to lock the drawer open, the latch locks it closed.

How far cross-country you headed? If you make it to SoCal, I'd like to get a chance to see your truck in person.

Thanx for all the positive feedback.

The wife and I don't have exact plans, just some key areas to get into. Pretty sure we'll be in southern Cali on our way south down the pacific coast taking the southern US route home. We're just gonna float around place to place, never really planning more than a couple days ahead.
If I'm in your area we should definitely link up

I have a couple more of different sizes, should see if one works out for ya.

When are you coming to SoCal? Would love to meet you/see the rig.

Depending on when, I'll either be in @GHOST SHIP's area in LA or in Santa Barbara

Not really sure when I'll be anywhere. We're just gonna float around as we go. But to be honest the thought of LA makes me wanna drive around it :D

My wife and I wanna see some national parks, I wanna see the PNW and Moab, and she wants to take me down the PCH cuz she's been out there said it's a must see. But I get enough of people and traffic living in a summer destination town that the more we are off the beaten path the better. I don't like the tourist sites, I wanna see nature and hangout with the local animals.

I wish I could drive around LA. Unfortunately I spend most of my time driving around LA.

PCH is worth the bit of traffic if you ask me. Even if just once so you can take in the views. If you're coming from Northern California or PNW another great route south is the 101 fwy. Takes you through the Golden Gate Bridge, beautiful NP forrests, then wine country to Solvang, Santa Barbara, etc. all the way down to Malibu. After that it's a fucking parking lot.

FWIW, the 101 continues through to Hollywood, but from what I've seen, I don't think that would interest you.

Some people love that shit. I figure if you've never been on this side of the country, it's one of those things you can drive through really fast just to see it. Other than that, tourists and hobos. Oh and hipsters- hipsters everywhere. I actually get a kick out of hauling ass through the shitty pothole ridden streets whenever I need to pass through for work. Only locals drive fast through Hollywood.

I've always been wondering if there was a way to run bags and keep 100% flex. This is good to see!

I wanted to do the same thing but under my Prinsu rack. It would need to be quite a shallow table but I'll have to think up something like this.

I measured my cap at the center and I've got 1.25 inches to work with. :)
