Royally F'd up installing Cali Raised 52" LED bar brackets...

    Received a 52" led bar for my taco as well as the 52" over-windshield type bracket that Cali raised makes...

    Was very hesitant to drill into the door jam on my 2 month old taco but after watching their installation video about 10 times, decided it couldn't be that difficult... sure enough... a week later the LED bar is still sitting in my garage and my brand new truck has 4 useless holes in it :thumbsup:

    I began the process with a buddy, we marked which spot would be best to position the brackets... Marked them... Then used a center punch to create an initial hole for drilling...
    Began to make the hole with a $40 unibit I purchased from a local hardware store :anonymous:...
    from there, went to the finish the hole with the same 25/64 bit used in the installation video... sure enough, no matter how slow I went, the holes came out oblong/ovalish (ALL FOUR OF THEM) Therefore, the rivets that were included with the CaliRaisedLED did not fit at all, the holes were all far too big.

    Now I am left with a brand new LED bar that I can't do anything with and I'm afraid to try and redrill holes about a cm away from the original holes because I feel they will come out the same way... Anyone know what I can do about the bad holes? Anyway to seal that back up and make it look somewhat not ridiculous every time someone opens the door to step into my truck?

    Also, I realized that no matter how you position these brackets, they push the rubber weatherstrip on the door out far enough that you can hear wind noise through the door when driving... Highly disappointed. :confused:

    No, actually, I bought the LED bar because I thought headlights are obsolete so I removed them and threw them away... The plan was to rely on the LED bar 24/7!

    DO NOT USE A STEP BIT. Buy the correct size drill bit and some smaller bits to use to make pilot holes.

    Maybe fill it all up with JB weld or an epoxy, and then drill new holes in the JB weld/epoxy once it hardens?

    My mistake, they ARE rivnuts that it comes with...

    Could go up a size on the rivnuts but the holes are still oblong so I don't know if it will be a snug fit...
