My concern would be the stress on the suspension. Toungue weight would be high.
7,700 is still over tow capacity. I've pushed tow capacity on my Fords a few times. Does just fine but suspension took a beating. I imagine 4Runners are less designed suspension wise for towing than big trucks.

Not a good idea in my opinion. It also will be a miserable 100 miles.

Towing 4000 pounds of trailer + toys in my Tacoma was miserable before airbags and a supercharger. With those mods, it's tolerable.

For 7K I'd be looking at a beater diesel.

Totally agree with "TRDZR2" as your max depending on model LB or SB & DC or AC. Now looking at profile pic it appears you have a DC SB just like me and I believe that our wheel base is 128". Therefore max length based on what TRDZR2 and other notable towing resources mention the same thing. I believe our max would be 24-25'. I have towed 21-22' flatbed with my taco and it was fine but I wouldn't go much bigger then a foot or two max but my 2 cents.

Good guideline would be pulling a trailer approximately twenty feet long as long as your vehicle has a wheelbase of at least 110 inches (again ours is 128"). So that's about nine feet of wheelbase to handle twenty feet of trailer.

For every 4" of wheelbase for each additional foot of trailer length. That way you're always making sure to keep the ratio of trailer length to wheelbase high enough.

Another thing most don't think about is the distance from the coupler (or tongue) to the axle of the trailer. There will be a big difference in stability for a trailer where that coupler to tongue distance is really short, compared to one where it's really long.

Many other factors like GVW and percise weight distribution also play huge role. I won't get into that to much since I am not an expert by any means and there are many other threads referencing this. If you are more visual there are some pretty cool youtube vids out there that explain it too.

I found one in my garage.

I've got a V8 4Runner and a V6 tacoma and I couldn't imagine either of them towing anything close to their tow rating.

Good info guys, thank you! I talked the wife out of the trailer. Yes I'm lucky enough to have the sport V8 in my garage, but the wife never lets me drive it. That's why I bought my taco:rofl:. Anyways our old trailer was 6500-6800 loaded, with a WD hitch and anti-sway the 4Runner did okay. We're going to stick around that weight or lower. I do have the luxury of taking one of the farms diesels, and usually do. It's just nice to be able to pull your toys without using the work truck. Thanks again everyone.
