Does anyone know HIR in1156 form? That's the bulb used in first half of 1st gen Tacomas. I run some "800 lumen" 1156 LED bulb (yeh, 800 my ass), and while it is brighter than stock it does so, so job. It would be quite useless if I did not have backup camera that can actually see with that light. But kudos to camera, not the bulb.

No. The HIR is an extremely rare high performance unicorn in lighting. However, the 1156 is a poor performing incandescent bulb, there are halogen alternatives in a 1156 bulb base that will offer significant performance improvements. Remember Incandescent<Halogen<HIR in coil resistance lighting. Quick google search shows 20w and 50w versions, I would avoid the 50w version for reasons already discussed.

Correct, those are not HIR. They are higher wattage halogen and lower performing than HIRs.

Regarding the lumen output, I had the same reaction. But then checked Philips site, and they do spec their latest 35w halogen gy6.35 at 600 lumens. When I wrote this originally I believe they were at 465. Definitely not as good as HIR, but better than the previous halogen version.

Odd the specs seem the same as these (465 listed on the label) that I used but if the Philips site says 600 perhaps they figured out a way to squeeze some more lumens out with the same wattage.

Nope, different part numbers. The 600 lumen is a T4, the 465 lumen is a T3. Both look the same and draw 35w, with the same dimensions. Still trying to determine the difference.

Has another source been found for these yet, even international?

All of the eBay links posted so far are dead.

The particular auction ended, but the item is still listed as available from the seller:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/361306192969

Edit: nevermind, says 10+ available but also temporarily sold out.

Aargh you have to figure home depot will pick these up at some point. When they do the 20$ and 10 minutes it takes to swap the bulbs will be a price I will happily pay for almost double the lumens from the 12v landscape bulbs im using now. I'm sure it's fine but I have never eBay'ed internationally, not sure I want to start.

There are plenty of source to buy these bulbs internationally, just google "gy6.35 30w philips". Many places from the EU ship to the US for a reasonable rate.

    First hit on search:

Agreed these should appear in the US soon, Philips USA even lists them as a product for North America. As for ebay, it is not different from the buyers perspective where the item is located. Just the transaction runs through a currency conversion if listed in Euros in this case. It is all handled for you and super easy.

Anyone find another source? I am having real trouble finding them. No NA shipment from Amazon UK or DE sites.
