Everybody who isn't on a Toyota forum knows that, nothing new there.

If it was just one list it wouldn't be so bad. Every comparo the Tacoma finishes near the bottom. And CR now rates the Tacoma as the truck to avoid for 2017 in the segment, party due to poor reliability.

    Now your speaking my language. Lists that say a vehicle is reliable on trucks that are a year or two old I don't pay attention to. How the fuck do you know? Ohh the interior "Feels" nice, the truck " Rides" like a car? Their aren't many hard plastic parts inside? I guess I view trucks differently than most. My criteria are;

    1. Will it start and run every damn time? Whether it's 102 outside or 14 degrees.

    2. Is it easy to work on when stuff inevitably breaks?

    3. Will it hold up to some abuse (durability)?

    4. Can I keep it 15-20 years and in year 20 drive from Mobile, AL. to Boise, Idaho and truly believe it will make that trip worry free?

    5. Does it have that "look back" appeal? Where you've spent that afternoon cleaning it and when you walk away you have to look back and admire.

    6. How many old ones of a truck do you see on the road and what kind of shape are they in?

Sorry I went on a tangent there. But over the Ridgeline I would take a Tacoma every time.

If I ever bought a primary vehicle that didn't make me want to look back at it, I bought the wrong vehicle.

Beaters, thrashers, etc. excluded, hence it only applies to your primary vehicle.

I used to have a Saturn station wagon that I got incredibly cheap, drove it 4 years, and sold it for significantly more than I paid for it.

I never looked back at it, but it shorenuf was a great car.

I finally get one and I'm beginning to get the feeling the '17 will have the lowest resale value of any of them. Would be my luck. Love my truck but maintaining it's value was a large part of the equation when selecting a Tacoma.

why is Ridgeline always on the truck list?....it's more car than truck......and living in a GM town I know many a chevy truck owner here...and believe me...issues, issues, issues so I don't really know how chev can make the most relieable list.

I wouldn't worry, the Taco has been down before but has always risen to the occasion.
By the time you're ready to trade it in, the real field reports will be out on the competition and as they begin to fall apart under normal use as they normally do everyone will be salivating on Tacos again.

    Cheers!

The 2016-2017's have had issues, but I don't think any more than anything else. Where I live, it's crawling with older Tacoma's, I never see old Chevy S-10's, an occasional Ranger.

Relax man, it's gonna be ok.

Everybody likes to take a swipe at the guy on top (Tacoma), so as soon as there's any perceived small slip they all pounce. The Colorado for example is a typical Chevy mess, the bar has already been set low for them.

Consumer reports specifically has been shitting all over the new Taco but provides no reasoning for their appraisals. Meanwhile, numerous other sources love the truck or at least have positive things to say. I also just took a poll of TW users to determine the overall sentiment of this forum toward the 3rd gen and so far results are fairly positive.

You guys can take the survey if you like.

Is this Tacofister? I thought he got banned.

Edit: I take that back - looks like you joined well before he was banned.

Put a shell on it... LOL
Saw this last week. LEER even put a small deck spoiler on it. Hard to see though. I thought to myself, "WTF is that thing?", but at least it's not on a shit list.
