Anyone use one for camping or home use for emergencies. They look like they could do a lot for the size.

Can only pair up the ones that come with parallel outlets, they run around 75-100$ over base price (companion model)

i bought one for home emergencies and tailgating type stuff. I bought one after we lost power for seven days after a snowstorm. I have a well and it cant power it, but the main reason i got was because of general power requirements like keeping the fridge plugged in because we lost lots of food, being able to use the microwave. I hauled water from work or the in laws. Also, being able to watch movies and stuff. It gets quite boring without power for seven days. My biggest reason was the gas usage. A co-worker was using his 5000 watt or so generator at like 15-20 gallons a day, IF he could find gas, everything was shut down or out of gas. On a small load, 1 gallon will go 8 hours or so. I keep about 10 gallons of gas around at a time, so i will be alright for a while.

I can run a refrigerator and a freezer, just have to plug one in at a time to get them started. Can run a tv, computer, and a couple of lights with no problem. I have a eu7000 that's wired into a sub panel to run just about the whole house if power is going to be out for a day or longer.

This looks to be a no-brainer! How much gas does it burn overnight?

I have that model. We live way out and are among the last to have power restored. I have never regretted buying it. I like the "throttle" which responds to load. At niight using a couple of lights and an electric blanket, TV, and satellite box it used around a little over a half tank. It is so very quiet. There are cheaper units out there but for economy of operation and quiet running, you can't beat it.

I have had one for about 8 years. Honda isn’t cheap but is worth every penny. They are quiet and dependable. Have never had a problem with it. They dont use much fuel but fuel use is based on load. Because most people don’t use them that often be sure to stabilize the gas and you should start them every month or two and let it run for a few minutes.

Wow. Old thread revived. I've had mine for 10 years. Always starts on the first pull. They now have the EU2200i. Be aware if you pick one up they are only rated at 1600W continuous. Costco is selling a 2000W Yamaha (is comparable to the Honda in every way) for $500.

I buy the tru-fuel from Lowes/home depot. its ethanol free and i emailed the company they said its good for 2 years. With generators sitting most of the time and the small ports of the honda carbs, its mostly worth the $20/gallon it works out to be. Really just buy it once a year, maybe every other year. If an emergency comes around, i use regular stabilized fuel.

It could still be a good generator, but let's not confuse it with the Yamaha made unit. The Yamaha brand EF2000 generator is about the same price as the Honda.
