I ordered one on Amazon for another vehicle. It was custom made for the car and it was only $40. It fit great..I have a new Tacoma but not going to put one on this truck.

Use one in most of my vehicles sinse no garage. I don't mount them with the Velcro tape. Just tuck under windshield. That way it comes of easy for cleaning or if you just don't want it there when it rains for 7 mo....

Any of you guys trying to stick morale patches to the headliner, dashmat offers an alternative when they won't stick...
Plus stops glare and heat damage, sure they get dusty shows it's time to clean the truck!

I like the idea of the dashmat, I just HATE the mounting options for them. I really don't like the velcro mounting for these. Is there a better way? Idk...but the last thing I want is left over sun baked sticky velcro spew on my dash when I choose to remove or clean the dash mat. Will it come off? Sure, with maybe something like GooGone, but how easily after years of that velcro being heated from the sun under that dash mat?

If you are looking for UV protection using any one of the following products will do just fine:
    303 Aerospace Protectant
    Meguiar's G4116 Natural Shine Protectant
    Meguiar's G4116 Quik Interior Cleaner

I just tuck it under windshield and side pillars. No tape. Works for me.

Also, Protect All. Great product you can use on any surface. Paint, glass, leather, plastic. Cleans, shines and UV protects.

    The good; the bad.

You guys talking about UV are missing half the argument. Heat, with UV or without will ruin and crack your dash. Hard plastics will warp whether they form cracks or not and the softer stuff with the padded foam underneath will crack.

Georgia sun. Lol. New Mexico, baby.

New plastics will out-gas when heated leaving residues on whatever's nearby, your windshield included. Is it cleanable? Yes. Should you breathe it? No.

Sticky Velcro is not mandatory. Depends on how well the mat stays in place without it. The shape and angle of the 3rd gen dash keeps my mat in place pretty well. So far, I haven't used the Velcro.

In my opinion, a dash mat isn't something that stands out so much that it could ever be considered an eyesore unless you fashioned your own out of some really obnoxious paisley fabric from JoAnn's. I'm not as down with the carpet ones as I am the ones made from a smoother fabric like I had in my 2gen.

And ... NO! Don't use Armor-All. The 303 is likely the best choice but I have had good results with Black Magic. Provided, that is, I can find the unscented stuff left my Tacoma smell like a '77 Fleetwood.

I used to have dash mats on my older tacomas, but I just started using 303 aerospace protectant, and haven't noticed any of that foggy film build up that you would normally with other types of protectants.

i use the 303 on the exterior black plastic part of my wifes NX and it works and looks awesome! Looks better then it came out of the showroom! I just dont want to use it on the inside, since I have had bad experiences with dressings on the interior causing flim on the windows.

This is the first vehicle I've owned without a dash mat. Serious question, when was the last time you saw a cracked dash? I remember they were not uncommon in the 80s but I haven't seen one crack in decades.

Not in a long time. Personally I've had dash mats in the past, not recently. I had them for 2 reasons and looks was NOT one of them. Obviously for protection but more to keep stuff from sliding from side to side on the dash. Now day vehicles come with cubbies, cup holders etc. but my last truck was a 2002 F-250 7.3 diesel. I always had something thrown up on the dash. The mat help keep all that crap from sliding across the dash and out the window. So for me it was (and almost always is) about function. I'm just not the type of person who has to buy an add-on for looks just to try and impress other people. Sure I want stuff to look good, but trying to keep up with the "trend" isn't me at all.
